Program Description:
Worldwide Independent Experiences

Have you secured an international opportunity independently or with the assistance of a faculty advisor? Or will you be traveling internationally as a component of your experiential learning program? If the answer to either of these questions is yes, that's great! ELCE (Experience-Based Learning and Career Education) and UC International Programs identifies these international opportunities as Worldwide Experiences.

Worldwide Experiences include cooperative education, academic internship, undergraduate research, service learning, and Experience Exploration Program (EEP). Remember, because this is an independent experience, it is your responsibility to prepare appropriately for the learning opportunity.

UC International Registration:

UC students traveling abroad for an academic program are required to have their experiences documented with UC International Programs. This page is the application portal for that documentation. In this system, students must upload travel documents, complete travel questionnaires, purchase comprehensive international insurance, and will apply for the UC International Programs scholarship. Students are held to the same deadlines and stipulations as all other UC International Programs scholarship recipients.

Visa Expectations:

It is the student’s responsibility to determine if a visa or other travel documents are required for the experience. It is also the student’s responsibility to apply for the visa or travel documents. ELCE and UC International Programs can be a resource for some supporting application documents if needed.

Academic Registration:

As a UC student, you are responsible for informing your academic or experiential learning advisor of your upcoming education abroad and ensuring that you are registered with UC for the appropriate academic course(s).
